Cloud-Edge Hosted Digital Twins for Coordinated Control of Distributed Energy Resources

چکیده

This paper presents a novel approach for realizing coordinated control of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) based on cloud-hosted and edge-hosted digital twins (DTs) DERs. DERs are playing an increasingly important role in supporting the frequency regulation power systems with massive integration renewable resources. However, due to significant differences DERs’ capability characteristics, individual un-coordinated responses from could lead less effective overall response undesirable traits, e.g. slow response, severe overshoots, etc. Therefore, coordination is critical ensure desirable aggregated response. A major shortcoming conventional centralized or distributed approaches their reliance real-time communications. addresses challenges by application DTs that can be hosted cloud edge minimize need communications, while being able achieve among The proposed DT-based validated using realistic simulation test setup, results demonstrate significantly improve thus offering support grid during contingency events.

Model Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation

This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...

Coordinated control of distributed energy resources to support load frequency control

The control of generating resources to follow the unscheduled load changes is considered to be an essential process in the power system in order to maintain the frequency of power supply. This load frequency control (LFC) problem has been given more importance in the recent smart grid environment because of the impact from high penetration of distributed energy resources (DER) installed at the ...

PAL: Propagation-aware Anomaly Localization for Cloud Hosted Distributed Applications

Distributed applications running inside cloud are prone to performance anomalies due to various reasons such as insufficient resource allocations, unexpected workload increases, or software bugs. However, those applications often consist of multiple interacting components where one component anomaly may cause its dependent components to exhibit anomalous behavior as well. It is challenging to i...

Risk and Hazard control hosted on Cloud

We live in a modern industry based society where automation undoubtedly is the key for success. The technology has been changing over the last decades towards full control systems and the requirement specifications for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) forms the central network for the process risk and hazard assessment to be carried out. Process Control has evolved very much in the last years....

Smart Grid: ICT Control for Distributed Energy Resources

The fact that the electrical grid represents a critical and complex infrastructure has prevented it from experiencing major breakthroughs during decades. Therefore, some problems and inefficiencies have been carried around for a long while, up to the point that traditional electrical grid is far away from being prepared to face incoming challenges, such as properly integrating the foreseen high...
